This work unites the opposites of control and letting go.
Restoring ecological balance requires a greater integration of wilderness both in our environment and in our inner experience. The concept of ‘rewilding’ explains that natural ecosystems have the capacity to regenerate, provided they are given sufficient space to develop autonomously. This process can create more diverse and resilient habitats that contribute to the promotion of biodiversity. The forms of the baroque garden dissolved in the fabric symbolise the principle of control and the human claim to dominate nature. The surface design of the textile was created using a dyeing technique in which the shadows of wildflowers from an unused wasteland in the immediate vicinity of my studio were used.
