KEEPER II, 2020 – white linen, 120 x 300 cm
This work thematises the omnipresent knowledge to which we are all connected and at the same time reflects the concepts of vulnerability and connectedness. KEEPERS AND HEALERS act as guardians of the in-between space and as mediators between the visible and the invisible. As part of a meditative working process, the warp and weft threads of the fabric are carefully loosened. The repeated pulling of the threads creates a kind of counter-rotating weaving that produces new structures and empty spaces. This silent, processual transformation emphasises the space in between and opens upa new perspective on what lies behind the surface. In the deconstruction of the material lies the possibility of constructing new spaces. By dissolving existing structures, a new spatial order is created that renegotiates the relationship between materiality, transparency and perception.
