Susanne Thurn is a visual artist living and working in Hamburg, Germany.
My work deals with the interaction between visibility and concealment. The focus is on textiles – as a reference to the human body and its non-verbal bodily knowledge. The curtain is a recurring element that addresses the relationship between knowing and not knowing: its visible surface hints at a hidden system that cannot be fully grasped.
Two themes characterise my practice: non-verbal bodily knowledge and the relationship between humans and nature. The starting point is my appreciation for natural processes and my amazement at how nature works – an amazement that drives my search for understanding.
